Al Jazeera reports at least 4,969 people displaced by Israel's siege on Hebron, as Israel announced final election results.

Israel's siege on Hebron has displaced at least 4,969 people, Al Jazeera reported on Friday in its Jerusalem Daily bulletin.

The broadcaster also reported that a settler opened fire on a group of children in a playground near Hebron. Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians who were returning to Gaza, it said. Al Jazeera's Hala Al Shami presented the latest report.

Al Jazeera said Israel has tightened the siege on Hebron. It did not give further detail on how the displacement figure was compiled.

The bulletin said Israel has announced its final election results. Voting took place earlier this week, with more than seven million eligible voters expected at the polls, according to Al Jazeera's report on election day.

After the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former military chief Gadi Eisenkot both claimed victory, Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday. It said Arab-majority parties celebrated gains in the Knesset, while for Palestinians the reality on the ground had not changed.
