Calgary police seek dashcam footage after hit-and-run on Deerfoot Trail
Police are asking for witnesses and dashcam video after an SUV damaged two vehicles on northbound Deerfoot Trail on Oct. 26 and drove away.

Calgary police are asking the public for dashcam footage and witness accounts to help identify an SUV that side-swiped a car on northbound Deerfoot Trail on Monday, Oct. 26, and fled, leaving two vehicles damaged.

Police said the collision happened at about 2:55 p.m. They believe the SUV is a black Ford Explorer with black steel rims. It was travelling northbound from Memorial Drive N.E.

Police said the driver is believed to have been swerving in and out of lanes and making unsafe lane changes. During one lane change, the SUV side-swiped a grey 2021 Acura RDX in the second lane, according to police.

The Acura lost control and hit a red 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan, which also lost control. Both vehicles came to a rest on the left shoulder of northbound Deerfoot Trail.

The SUV left the scene immediately and was last seen heading eastbound on 16 Avenue N.E., police said.

Anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, at www.calgarycrimestoppers.org or through the P3 Tips app.
