Julián Álvarez’s reported push to leave Atletico Madrid has opened a path for Barcelona, which is said to be capping its pursuit well below €150 million.

Barcelona is preparing for a cautious pursuit of Julián Álvarez after the Atletico Madrid forward reportedly took the public step the Catalan club had been waiting for: making clear that he wants a transfer.

According to Varzesh3, the 26-year-old Argentine has told people at Atletico that a move would be the best outcome for all sides and that he wants to pursue his long-held ambition. That shift could give Barcelona a stronger position if talks with Atletico begin in earnest, but the club is not expected to move at any price.

The report says Barcelona has no intention of paying €150 million for Álvarez, a figure connected to Real Madrid’s reported entry into the race and one that has complicated the market around the player. A €100 million offer is currently described as being on the table, with Barcelona expected to improve its position if negotiations advance, but not beyond €120 million.

Atletico’s stance remains the major obstacle. The Madrid club is said to oppose selling Álvarez and to be angry over the situation, with Varzesh3 reporting that Atletico is considering a complaint against Barcelona because it believes the Catalan side has not acted fairly.

Barcelona, for now, is staying quiet. The club is not commenting on Álvarez’s reported remarks and is watching Atletico’s reaction before making its next move. The report says Barcelona views Álvarez as one of its main targets for next season, but also knows that any deal depends on the player maintaining pressure and Atletico agreeing to negotiate.

The timing may also matter. Barcelona is expected to wait until after the World Cup before launching a final push for the striker, according to the report. Until then, the transfer chase appears to be a test of leverage: Álvarez’s desire to leave, Atletico’s resistance, Real Madrid’s reported valuation pressure and Barcelona’s refusal to be drawn into a €150 million deal.
