Dua Lipa has sued Samsung for $15 million, alleging the company used her image without permission on TV packaging sold across the U.S.

Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the electronics company of using her image without permission on packaging for televisions sold across the United States.

The complaint, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Samsung prominently placed a photograph of Lipa’s face on boxes for various television models without her consent. The lawsuit includes claims of copyright infringement, trademark infringement and misappropriation of her likeness and image.

Samsung’s packaging was “designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa’s hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung’s products,” the filing said, according to the BBC. The BBC said it had contacted Samsung for comment.

The lawsuit says the photograph was taken during Lipa’s 2024 performance at the Austin City Limits Festival and that the singer owns the copyright to the image. Her legal team alleges she first became aware in June 2025 that her face was appearing on Samsung television boxes.

The filing also points to fan reaction on social media, where users referred to the product as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.” Two Instagram comments cited in the complaint suggested that her appearance on the packaging could influence shoppers, including one user who said they would buy the TV because Lipa was on it.

Lipa’s lawyers allege Samsung ignored repeated demands to stop using the image. Those allegations have not been tested in court.

The case centers on the commercial value of Lipa’s image as well as control over how it is used. The filing references her brand partnerships with companies including Puma, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent, and notes other collaborations with Apple, Porsche and Chanel. She more recently became a global ambassador for Nespresso.

Lipa, 30, released her most recent album, Radical Optimism , in 2024. The next step in the case will be Samsung’s formal response to the allegations in court.
