A Fox News Digital investigation says about 425 groups are coordinating 736 ‘Nakba 78’ protest events in 39 countries this weekend.

A global wave of “Nakba 78” demonstrations is being organized this weekend, with about 425 groups coordinating an estimated 736 events in 39 countries, according to a Fox News Digital investigation.

The reported mobilization centers on the anniversary of Israel’s founding on May 14, 1948, which Palestinians describe as the Nakba, Arabic for “catastrophe,” referring to the displacement of Palestinians and a continuing historical grievance. Fox reported that events are planned in cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London and Sydney.

The size and coordination of the campaign have drawn scrutiny because of the mix of organizations involved and the rhetoric used in protest materials. Fox characterized the network as including communist groups, Muslim advocacy organizations and anti-Israel coalitions, and said the participating organizations have a combined annual revenue footprint of about $1 billion.

Organizers cited in the report frame the demonstrations as opposition to “genocide,” “apartheid” and U.S. “imperialism,” and describe their activism as anti-Zionist, anti-colonial and anti-imperialist. Critics quoted by Fox argue that some of the campaign’s language crosses into antisemitism by denying Jewish self-determination or calling for the dismantling of Israel as a state.

Fox said its analysis of protest listings, social media posts, event graphics and public announcements found the United States had the largest number of listed events, with 187. The United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Canada, Spain, France, Ireland and Australia were also identified as major hubs.

The report also tied some of the organizing to nonprofits that have received funding linked to Neville Roy Singham, a tech entrepreneur whose network has been the subject of congressional and federal scrutiny. Fox reported that Singham has directed $278 million over nearly a decade into nonprofits including the People’s Forum, CodePink and BreakThrough BT Media. The report said U.S. Treasury, Justice and State Department officials, as well as House committees, are examining funding structures and possible foreign-influence issues involving the network.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Fox she is concerned that Chinese Communist Party-aligned interests and sympathizers are using nonprofits to build organizing infrastructure in the United States. “There is no limit to what the Chinese Communist Party will do to create chaos in the United States,” Blackburn said.

Jewish community advocates quoted in the report urged authorities to distinguish protected protest from unlawful conduct, especially near synagogues and other Jewish institutions. Brooke Goldstein, executive director of The Lawfare Project, said authorities should monitor for assault, vandalism, trespass, obstruction and targeted harassment.

Fox reported that New York organizers planned events as part of a “Nakba Week of Action,” including a gathering at Washington Square Park and another in Bay Ridge. In London, police were preparing for a major march, while Sydney organizers called for demonstrators to gather at town hall. The immediate test will be whether the weekend’s large, coordinated protests remain peaceful and how authorities respond if demonstrations target Jewish communal spaces or public institutions.
