Former Channel 5 News presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije has withdrawn allegations relating to Dan Walker after reaching a mutual agreement with ITN and Channel 5, ending an employment tribunal case that had been due to be heard in London.

ITN and Channel 5 agreed to pay Vanderpuije an undisclosed amount to withdraw the tribunal proceedings, with no admission of liability. The full terms of the settlement were not made public.

Vanderpuije, who co-hosted a Channel 5 News programme with Walker for a year between 2022 and 2023, had filed claims including unfair dismissal, discrimination and harassment on grounds of race and sex, and breach of contract.

Her lawyers said she “can confirm that a mutual agreement has been reached with ITN and Channel 5 in respect of the matters subject to tribunal proceedings.” They added that Vanderpuije “fully withdraws her allegations relating to Dan Walker and does not intend to repeat or pursue them.”

After being told the parties had reached an agreement, the judge formally brought the matter to a close by dismissing the claim.

Walker, a former BBC Breakfast and Football Focus presenter who joined Channel 5 News in 2022, said Friday that he believed he should not have been drawn into the case. “I was fully prepared to go to tribunal and defend the allegations which were levelled at me,” he said.

ITN said it continued to deny the claims in full and was glad the matter had been resolved. Channel 5 also said it strongly rejected the claims and was pleased that all allegations relating to Walker had been withdrawn.

Vanderpuije left Channel 5 News in 2024. With the claim dismissed and the settlement terms undisclosed, no further tribunal hearing is expected on the matter.
